WORLD PARKINSON'S DAY

Wow, blue really was the colour for our big day!

With York’s famous bar walls lit up blue to mark World Parkinson’s Day on Thursday 11 April, our volunteers were out in force.

Our information stand and collection for the whole day at York Railway Station got the Parkinson's message across. Plus there was a coffee morning, a display and our regular PW Warrior exercise class.

Then on Saturday the Younger Persons Group held a brilliant walk at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park - and featured on ITV's Calendar news.

Here's the story in pictures.

All for one and one for all!

Who we are

York Branch is part of the Parkinson’s UK national charity, which is here for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

We’re a friendly community of people, based in York and the surrounding area.

Our branch:

• Supports people with Parkinson’s - and their family and friends

• Offers friendship and a meeting point

• Offers a range of classes and activities for fun and therapy.

We help to change attitudes too. Our branch raises public awareness of Parkinson’s through:

• Fundraising events

• Presence at other types of events

• Liaison with NHS and other organisations.

Our fundraising allows us to host a range of classes and events for our members. And it contributes to Parkinson’s UK national and international research towards treatments and eventually a cure.
